Old Man Mountain Manzanita Cradle

The Old Man Mountain Manzanita Cradle system was designed for Salsa Cycles during my time at Quality Bicycle Products. The system is a refreshed version of what started as the Salsa Anything Cradle.

During the preliminary phase of the project, I worked as a contributing designer on the hardgood components. I developed initial concepts, created 3D models, and helped test and evaluate initial samples

Kate Lusson designed and developed all softgoods components, and brought finalized hardgood components across the finish line.

In addition to the cradle, we also worked on a new version of the Anything Cage that has yet to go into production.

Dynamic surfacing pulled from the Salsa Visual Brand Language, and more importantly, added functionality. The cross-section was intentionally designed to optimized the strength-to-weight ratio while acknowledging the limitations of injection molding, and keeping the part manufacturable with a two part mold. One of the biggest motivations for pursuing and refining this design was an improved and easier to use strap path. Even though the final Cradle is a different design, I am happy to see echoes of my intentions in the final product.

Anything Cage v2 Concept Project

There was an attempt to launch a new Anything Cage. The brief was loose, and ultimately, as a consequence of a poorly established brief, the project was canceled.

We explored a variety of solutions, including fixed/one-piece configurations, as well as multiple options that had folding or deployable feet.
